Fort Worth Golf Courses
The municipal golf courses in Fort Worth promote better golf skills, individual and group lessons to help your golf game, organizational services for golf tournaments, and support for golf associations throughout the city. There are four municipal courses available to residents; see their descriptions below:
Located in the east-central metropolitan area of Fort Worth, the Meadowbrooks Golf Course is an 18 hole regulation facility and considered one of the top 25 municipal golf courses in Texas. The par 71 course plays to a length of 6,363 yards from the Championship (Blue) tees and 5,966 yards from the Regular (White) tees and play from the Forward (Red) tees is right at 5,000 yards.
Originally designed by Golf Course Architect Ralph Plummer in 1963, Pecan Valley Golf Course has two 18 hole golf courses separated by the Clear Fork of the Trinity River. The “River” Course, considered one of the top municipal courses in Texas, plays to about 6,100 yards from the Regular (White) Tees and can be extended to 6,600 yards from the Championship (Blue) Tees. Play from the Forward (Red) Tees is just under 5,600 yards.
The original Rockwood Golf Course was opened for play in 1938. It was designed by Golf Course Architect John Bredemus, with subsequent upgrades by Golf Course Architect Ralph Plummer. The “Rock” Course is an 18 hole regulation course. The “Rock” is a par 71 and plays to 6,340 yards from the Championship tees, 6,070 from the White tees and just 5,566 from the Red tees. There are just a handful of bunkers and the course is a great example of the old style of golf course architecture.
The original Sycamore Creek Golf Course was built in 1932 and is located between Riverside Drive and Vickery Blvd. in the near southeast central section of the City. The site is accessible from Highway 287 and a few miles south of Interstate 30. The central location near downtown makes this course a favorite spot for an afternoon round of golf after work.
